Greetings dear readers and friends. Well, it’s been quite a while since my last post, and if you’re reading this today, I appreciate you hanging in with me and belle Provence!

Life has been ticking along in the beautiful south of France, and I’ve been contributing a lot of articles to International Living about how to move to this wonderful country. It’s a great feeling to know that you’ve played a small part in making someone’s dream of living abroad come true.
In between, we’ve been taking advantage of all this lovely region has to offer – including a very wonderful weekend spent at Mas Millésime near Saint Rémy de Provence.
What an absolute gem!
I corresponded back and forth with one of the owners, Charline, about our stay… but I never imagined we’d discover such a stunning property.
Just off a picturesque country road, lined with vineyards and olive groves, the rich yellows and soft stone façades of the Mas (a Provençal farmhouse) make a striking backdrop against the cool blue of the central pool complex – which serves as not only a cozy place to relax but also where breakfast is served amongst olive trees and wild flowers.
We were quickly under the charm of Mas Millésime to say the least!
Charline and her partner Ronald have lovingly restored the property – which includes the main farmhouse and two, self-contained homes (gîte) – with an eye for detail that is evident from the guest rooms to the landscaped gardens and the dreamy walnut-toned kitchen with its chalky stone wine cave.

Grenache, our haven of peace and calm.
We stayed in the sumptuous ground-floor room named Grenache. A real haven of peace and calm! The double French doors open to a private, vine-covered terrace with a large stone table – ready-to-go for apéro hour. The soft brown tiles and rustic-modern furniture add to the elegance of the room, which has one of the prettiest bathrooms we’d seen in a long time. I’m no architect, but the design was gorgeous – exposed rock complimented the stone tiles and a sleek double-sink layout. The shower felt like walking into your favorite spa, complementary robes and all.

While the beauty of Mas Millésime took hold of us, it was really our kind and generous hosts, Charline and Ronald, that made the biggest impression on our family. Well, in fact, they made us feel like we were part of the family.
Before heading out to a fantastic tapas restaurant (Edu) in Saint Rémy de Provence (a recommendation from our hosts!), we were treated by Charline and Ronald to a lovely aperitif of local wine, pâte, olives, cured ham, and a thick slab of creamy mozzarella adorned with cherry tomatoes – served with crusty bread and drizzled with the Mas’ own olive oil. Superb!

Local wine, pâte, olives, cured ham…. and great company.
As we were warmed by not only the wine but also the conversation shared by our merry group, it was indeed hard to leave the cozy kitchen for our meal out.
After a good night’s sleep – which a night in the Provençal farmhouse is sure to bring – we settled into breakfast in front of the pool. And what a breakfast it was…
Eggs any style you liked, bacon, fresh-squeezed orange juice, fruit salad bowl, homemade yogurt with almonds from the garden, homemade strawberry, apricot, and fig jam, and goat cheese from local Dany farm – accompanied by toast and organic coffee. Oh my! Just writing this makes me what to return this weekend…

The main house (la maison d’hotes) is available for bookings, as well as the self-catering homes: Gite Mourvedre and Gite Carignan. Did I mention that both gîtes have their own pool? You’ll know where to find our family over the summer!

Don’t forget to take advantage of visits to local villages and charming Saint Rémy de Provence. We drove along the Alpilles mountain range and spent a nice afternoon is the pretty village of Eygalières. Your hosts will give you all the insider info on this beautiful corner of Provence!
