Happy International Rosé Day

Lunch-time rosé at Terrebrune in Ollioules.

Greetings dear readers and friends. Well, we couldn’t let this very special day go by without a little celebration, right? As you can well imagine, there are many events going on all around Provence.

One our our favorite places to visit, Chateau Léoube, is hosting an International Rosé Day event at their winery which includes tastings and visits to their wine caves.

Did I mention they have they also make olive oil, have their own private beach (Plage du Pellegrin), and host outdoor jazz concerts and outdoor movie screenings along the beach? Yep, it’s a pretty swanky and hip place.

Apéro hour at Hotel Mas du Brulat.

For our part, we’ll be heading to Sanary-sur-Mer to taste some wine and celebrate the opening of the “night market” which starts this evening and runs through the summer. One of the coolest places to visit on a summer evening and a great excuse to pick up some Provençal treasures to take home.

And what would a rosé post be without a selection of a few of our favorite wineries? Even though it’s true that you can find good, cheap rosé wine all around the region, we’ve found that by spending just a few extra euros you can go from a “good” rosé to a truly exceptional one.

Here’s a few of our top picks when we get a chance to “splash out” on rosé wine:

Château Léoube

Château de Berne (Grande Récolte)

Domaine L’Olivette

Domaine La Suffrene

Domaine Tempier

Mirabeau

Well, we’re obviously not wine experts, but these are a lot of “universal standards” in our neck of Provence that you’ll find on wine lists all across the region. And frankly, I’m almost embarrassed by this list as there’s probably a good 20+ domaines that could be added. The one thing that the south of France isn’t short on:  fantastic rosé wine!

And if you’re planning on throwing a party, I was kindly asked by Paperless Post to talk to you about their lovely line of greeting cards, invitations, and flyers that you can find online. They’ve partnered with famous designers like Kate Spade, Kelly Wearstler, and Rifle Paper Co. You can start with one of their catchy titles like, “Rosé on the Roof”, or customize your own très chic party invitations.

Hope you’re celebrating in style today; sending you our best wishes from belle Provence!
