Foto Friday… Scenes from St. Tropez

St. Tropez

It’s not often that we venture to St. Tropez, and frankly I’m still amazed that we live in the same “department” (the Var) as this glamorous vacation spot… not to mention that before moving to France I believed this small(ish) village along the Côte d’Azur was actually a hidden island in the Mediterranean. Besides being influenced by Bain de Soleil commercials and one-too-many James Bond movies, you can see I wasn’t altogether “tops” when it came to geography.

St Tropez

Island or not, I was nonetheless impressed by the “magic” of St. Tropez… well, off-season magic that is…

Thankfully we first visited the town in the late fall, when most of the tourists have cleared out and you can see where the charm of St. Tropez really lies… a beautiful port accentuated by a backdrop of colorful village homes, a lovely Provençal market, and squares filled with locals doing what they do best – a few games of Pétanque & many more glasses of Rosé.

Pétanque

During the summer months – which we braved only once – the town becomes a festival of beachgoers, yacht-parties , and more traffic than I thought I’d ever see outside of Friday night on the 405 freeway (for my Los Angeles “amies”).

Needless to say, I much prefer a few storm clouds and a touch of rain, if we get to experience views like these…

Hope you enjoy these scenes from St. Tropez & a very bon weekend à tous.

  1. We spent a wonderful week on the outskirts of St Tropez during our house hunting tours. Beautiful town and area. We decided it was a little difficult/far place to live if you want to be able to do day trips away from there on a frequent basis.
